About Us

About The IRISI Foundation

At The IRISI Foundation, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to explore the world beyond their familiar surroundings. As a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, our mission is to provide scholarships for students from underprivileged backgrounds to participate in leadership and outdoor programs. These programs are designed to build resilience, foster leadership, and encourage community engagement.

Our work centers around creating transformative experiences for young people, offering them the chance to step out of their comfort zones, form authentic relationships, and develop skills that will serve them for a lifetime.

Our Mission

At the heart of The IRISI Foundation is the belief that exposure to different perspectives can change lives. Our mission is to give students the tools and experiences they need to become compassionate leaders in their communities. By stepping away from the constant noise of technology and everyday life, these young people are able to gain a fresh perspective, develop critical life skills, and connect with people from diverse backgrounds.

We aim to equip young leaders with the ability to think critically, resolve conflicts peacefully, and make a positive impact both locally and globally. Through programs that focus on community engagement and leadership, we are helping to cultivate the next generation of changemakers.

Changing Perspectives

The Meaning of IRISI

Pronounced “Eye-RIS-E", The name IRISI holds deep significance.

The Iris Flower

The iris flower, which thrives in the wild, is another symbol of our work—representing resilience, beauty, and growth in even the harshest environments. We hope to instill the same resilience in the young people we support, helping them thrive in whatever challenges they face.

The Iris of the Eye

Just as the iris of the eye controls the amount of light that enters, allowing us to see, our foundation aims to help young people see the world in new and brighter ways.

The “Perspective” in Yoruba

In Yoruba, the word means "perspective."
